Langstroth hives are the standard rectangular beehives used by commercial beekeepers. We assemble and paint all of the hives here. They’re made of plantation grown radiata pine; the timber is 22 mm thick. Frames are handmade, with stainless steel wire, brass eyelets, and beeswax (not plastic) foundation.

Two 8-frame timber boxes, fully assembled, and painted, $85 each
Timber lid, wax-dipped, painted, with Colourbond metal cover $80
Timber base, cleats and risers, wax-dipped and painted $75
Handmade timber frames with beeswax foundation (16), $13 each
Metal queen excluder, $23
Aerofast hive lock, $22
Established bee colony, $240
If parts of the hive and bees are purchased separately, the cost of the hive including bees would be $818. If purchased as a package the total is $690, a savings of $128. You can book them for a $50 deposit and they will be ready starting in October. When you come to collect your bees they will already be in their new home.
